CapSources emerged from a mid-market investment banking company, Amerimark Capital Corporation, which was formed in 1988 in Dallas, Texas by two of the current three principals of CapSources. In 1993, the company opened an investment banking office in Houston, Texas followed with the opening of the Jackson, Mississippi office in 1997 and began its fund raising efforts to create a venture capital fund to be based in Jackson. Fund raising for the initial fund was completed in December 1997. In May 1998, CapSource Fund, L.P. received a Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) license from the Small Business Administration (SBA) with CapSources serving as the fund manager. In June 2001, CapSources created a second venture fund, the CapSource 2000 Fund, L.P., and received from the SBA a second SBIC license. CapSources currently manages over $50 million in investable assets and an investment portfolio of more than twenty-five companies located throughout the U.S. CapSources also serves the investment banking needs of mid-market size clients located throughout the Southeast and Southwest and Western U.S. from its regional offices in Dallas, Texas, Houston, Texas, and Jackson, Mississippi.
